Proper sleep? I wish.

I do some of my best thinking-and-writing work between 3 and 5 o'clock… a.m..

Hugely sleep deprived, nowadays I rarely even bother going to bed.

Too often when I have, my mind wakes - and I lie there in the dark for hours, thoughts hurtling around inside my head like slot car racers.

So… at times like these I'm happy to sit in the garden, preferably with a particular friend, enjoying the nocturnal sound of owl and fox.

And often during what should be 'hours of slumber', I can be spotted walking on a beach or parked looking out across the bay making notes.

Oh, the joy of life with a fucked-up psyche.
