Brothers and sisters.
(1 minute read.)
Being aware of one's limitations?
I've wondered whether siblings are complementary - with one having the attributes that the other lacks, and so between them they'd make a whole and well-rounded person.
If so, then clearly a brother or sister of mine would've been smart and sensible and hard-working – with a successful career and few fuck-ups.
That's certainly a marked contrast to the 'walking train wreck, carrying a handful of self-destruct detonators' that I've often been.
And any sibling of mine would most certainly not have included 'bank robber' (I really did want to be a gentleman criminal) among their desired career choices when a teen. (As an adult, I instead settled for 'outlaw', but was always a bit crap at it.) Honestly, I kid you not.
'I've always been crazy, but it's kept me from going insane...?' Yeah, probably.
Oh well. One does one's best. (But I most definitely do wish I and my life had been… different.
And, if I'd had a sibling, I'd far rather have been the one to be less-able and thus spare them the turmoil I've often experienced. I'd have wanted them to have things relatively easy and do well.
Luckily for me, amid the maelstrom of lunacy which has been much of my life I do actually have some talent and determination – so overall things have been less than disastrous, and I've gotten by ok-ish.
I've certainly no complaints – life is good to me, probably more than I deserve.
