Can you dig it?
(3 minute read.)
We respect you. You trust us.

Although we have to make money, there's more to it than that.
Our primary focus isn't 'making as much dosh as we can'.
There's a widely accepted view that 'businesses looking to maximize revenue need to throw as many revenue-generating opportunities at users as they will tolerate'.
Personally, I find that horrible and instead favor an altogether-more-decent alternative (which can often actually be more profitable)… 'don't piss-off users by trying to squeeze them for every possible penny'.
'Maximising profit' is rarely compatible with 'best interests of your customers'. So we won't.
Instead, our focus will be to provide the best service for hosts, guests, advertisers and listeners… and to do so almost regardless of the financial numbers (even if we don't make as much money as we could).
So we'll spend more on infrastructure, and charge hosts/advertisers less than we could. (Listening will always be free.)
That seems the decent thing to do, and should still enable us to build a sizable business with decent financials (so it's not entirely altruistic).
Quietly getting-on with what needs to be done without hustle, this won't be a go-getter company.
There'll be elements of messiness and inefficiency. And, 'Aerosmith at the baroque ball…' probably some unruliness too.
My simplistic view is that there's two distinct types of commercial enterprise… those which elicit a smile, and those which don't. I'm clear on which of 'em I want this business to be.
If we had a creed, it'd be simple and unambiguously clear:
Be honest. Be open. Be bold. Treat people decently.
Seriously, our ethos isn't something we'll compromise for a quick buck to make our lives easier.
Anyway, enough. Further laboring of the point is not required.

- This, not that. 'How' and 'why' matter.
- Can you dig it? We respect you. You trust us.
- Authenticity. Respect and honesty.
- Business? Or 'enterprise'…?
- 'They say, we say.' Different strokes.
- Rush? Things are better without an imposed timeframe.
- Gonzo. A little something for the non-conformist in us.
- It stinks. The essence of marketing?
- 'I am, I said...' To introduce and inform.
